One of the most challenging parts of buying, selling, or owning a home is knowing whom you can trust when you need help. From lenders to inspectors to contractors, a good agent will have a strong network of professionals that can help you. Remember that your agent can offer you recommendations but not requirements for those you employ: The Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) grants homebuyers and sellers the right to choose whomever they wish to work with.

Questions and Answers

Can you explain the home selling process from start to finish?

For home-selling novices, the process can seem long and complicated. Feel comfortable understanding the key points along the way—preparing the home, showings, how to manage offers, home inspections, what happens post-accepting an offer, timelines, etc. A realtor should make you comfortable along the way, though always expect the unexpected.

Can I see a written Comparative Market Analysis?

Yes:  A CMA is step one of determining a price for the house. It examines the neighborhood, showing prices at which similar properties are active, sold and pending.

How do your Realtor fees work?

This is a common question.  Typically the listing agent and the buyers agent work under commission splits.  When a seller lists their property with a brokerage, the commission and any commission splits are usually determined at that point.  Fees can and should always be negotiated.  Agents do not work for free so be sure to ask about the fees.  Sometimes, agents will have other small fees, such as administrative or special service fees, that are charged to clients, regardless of whether they are buying or selling a property.  Staging, Interior Design and vendor services are priced seperate of real estate commissions.

How will you market my home?
Will I be working with you directly or a team?
